Maternal-Infant Health Program (MIHP)

The Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) is a program for all Michigan women who are pregnant and infants who have Michigan Medicaid health insurance. MIHP provides support to promote healthy pregnancies, good birth outcomes, and healthy infants.

The Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) provides specialized preventative services to pregnant women and their infants who are eligible for Michigan Medicaid.

The MIHP supplements prenatal care. Services are provided by social workers, nutritionists and registered nurses and may include:

  • Psychosocial and nutritional assessments
  • Care Coordination
  • Childbirth Education
  • Public Health Nursing
  • Referrals to Specialists and Community Resources

To ensure a healthy start in life, the MIHP provides non-medical support services to infants up to 1 year of age and may include:

  • Health Assessments
  • Nutrition and Social Work Counseling
  • Referral for services

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Pregnant women and infants up to 1 year who are Michigan Medicaid eligible.
