Eligibility and Fees

DIDHD participates in the Vaccine for Children (VFC) Program which provides free or low cost vaccines. These children must be 18 years and younger and meet one of the following criteria:

• Be enrolled in Medicaid
• Have no medical insurance
• Be an American Indian or Alaskan Native
• Under insured*

Adults (19 and older) who are uninsured or underinsured* may qualify to receive vaccines through the Michigan Adult Vaccine Program (MI-AVP)  or Merck Assist.   

*Under Insured: For the purposes of determining eligibility for VFC/MI-AVP are persons whose insurance does not cover reimbursement for the cost of vaccinations or a person with health insurance that has no immunization coverage at the time of the appointment.

An administration fee of $20.00 is charged with each vaccine for those participating in the VFC and MI-AVP programs. This fee may be adjusted or waived if there is a financial hardship.

DIDHD bills insurance. Please check with your insurance provider to see what costs are covered.

Clients without vaccination coverage and who do not qualify for VFC or MIAVP may pay privately for vaccinations.
