The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department's Hearing and Vision Screening Program is successful due to the partnership and collaboration with area preschools and schools. Through this relationship, we screened over 4,000 children last year, resulting in over 200 children referred for further evaluation and treatment.
A Certified Hearing and Vision Technician provide screenings for school and pre-school age children to identify children who may have a possible vision or hearing problem.
Impaired vision in children can seriously affect the learning and can contribute to the development of emotional and behavioral problems.
A hearing impairment interferes with development of normal speech and communication, which can also lead to educational failure. Early detection and medical treatment insures a better chance of successfully correcting the hearing problem.
