To request a site evaluation, please return a completed construction application to the department. Please provide all the information requested, as this will minimize the amount of time required to process your application. If the applicant indicates the parcel is less than one acre in size, he/she must include a copy of the recorded deed.
Once the application is processed, a representative from this department will contact you and/or your licensed contractor to schedule a date and time to conduct the evaluation. It is very important for you to be present during the site evaluation. If the proposed location of the sewage system does not comply with Code requirements, you and the sanitarian can discuss alternate locations.
Please note that at the time of a scheduled site evaluation, a backhoe excavation is required to reach the required minimum depth of 7 feet for soil analysis.
If the evaluation concludes that the site complies with the Code, it will be approved. Within a week of completing the evaluation, the sanitarian will provide you with a site evaluation report and instructions for proceeding with the permit. Please allow one to two weeks for the entire permitting process.
If the evaluation concludes that the site is not in compliance with the Code, the sanitarian will provide you with a site evaluation report and a letter will be mailed to you indicating the reasons for non-compliance.
The permit fee includes a final inspection of the installed system and letter of approval.
